The second-hand marketplace Users Express Frustration Regarding Size Updates

Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Response

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Sizing System Modifications

Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Service Background

The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
